Professionally known as Vas Blackwood the Actor, I was actually christened Vasta Roy Blackwood Jr & like most children, my friends would later abbreviate Vasta to Vas. 

 

It is said a name usually personifies semblances of antiquity, cultural heritage, spiritual favour mixed with a tinge of abracadabra.  Born Junior to my Father Vasta Senior, to this day, I am continuously compelled by the idiosyncratic rational of my Jamaican Grandfather who was simply christened George Blackwood.  

Having done a little research I discovered "Vasta" originated as a surname, first discovered in Velletri a town in the province of Rome Italy. It is the seat of the Bishop of Ostia. Notable for its vineyards the city dates back to the 4th century B.C. It is rich in art and other treasures. The Palazzo Ginetti is notable. The highest point is the municipal Palace. In those ancient times only persons of rank, the Podesta, clergy, city officials, army officers, artists, landowners were entered into the records. To be recorded at this time, at the beginning of recorded history, was of itself a great distinction and indicative of noble ancestry.

More than just a creative Artist, daily, I’ve always considered myself a ‘A good Man striving to be a better Man’. I’ve shaped my life upon Faith, Hope & Charity.

My intentions are for this website to spontaneously reach out from my standpoint as an Actor, Voice-Over Artist, Script Writer & Freemason, endeavouring to communicate esoteric positivity & educate self-empowered mental development.
